Alessio Crociani from Rimini wins IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw. The Italian completed the course in 3 hours, 33 minutes, and 5 seconds. The fastest Pole – Filip Szymonik – finished in 3 hours, 42 minutes, and 5 seconds.
The athletes had a total of 113 kilometers to cover – 1,900 meters of swimming in Lake Zegrzyńskie, 90 kilometers of cycling along the Żerański Canal and Wisłostrada, and a half marathon (21.1 kilometers) through the streets of downtown Warsaw. The winner praised the course and said the weather was favorable for good racing.
There was a light wind, but it didn’t bother me at all, even when it was blowing from the side. I actually felt like it was pushing me on the bike, and I could go faster. It wasn’t cold, although at times, when the sun came out, it got a bit stuffy. As you can see, I was well-prepared for this kind of weather.

The remaining podium spots were taken by: Valdemar SOLOK from Denmark – 2nd place with a time of 3:33:19. The third place went to Henry RÄPPO from Estonia, who finished the race with a time of 3:34:26.

Fastest Woman
In fantastic form at the finish line of IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw was the women’s winner – Rachel Brown. The Brit explained at the finish that her race had no weak points. She completed the swim, bike, and run exactly as planned. She needed 4 hours, 8 minutes, and 39 seconds to finish the IRONMAN 70.3 distance.
Right after getting out of the water, I decided to push hard on the bike to warm up properly. I kept that body temperature throughout the race. Whenever I felt low on energy, I took gels and supplements. That’s why I started the run in good shape. I stuck to my pace, and it worked.

Rachel Brown was competing against two talented triathletes from Italy and Germany. She didn’t have to wait long at the finish line for Luisa IOGNA PRAT and Katharina KRÜGER. The Italian crossed the finish line at the Multimedia Fountain Park after 4 hours, 10 minutes, and 29 seconds, while the German completed the race in 4:13:53.

IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw attracted thousands of athletes from around the world. Over 60 percent of the participants were foreigners, representing as many as 71 nationalities. Alongside professional athletes, amateurs also took part. One of them was Bartek Matusiewicz – a triathlete with Down syndrome. The 27-year-old had trained for years to take on the IRONMAN 70.3 distance. His dream was to “become an Ironman, or at least half of one.” Today, that dream came true, as Bartek made history by becoming the first European with Down syndrome to complete half of the full IRONMAN distance.

Top Polish track and field athletes – Marcin Lewandowski and Marek Plawgo – decided to take on the challenge of IRONMAN 70.3 Warsaw. The Olympians and multi-medalists in middle-distance running chose to test themselves in triathlon.
I’ve built up experience over the years, and now I’ve got a personal best in swimming and another in cycling. But I paid for it during the run. Those PBs gave me a bit of an edge, but if Marcin starts training seriously, this will be the last time I beat him.
Marek PLAWGO – IRONMAN Poland ambassador
Plawgo had competed in IRONMAN 70.3 before. For Lewandowski, it was an absolute debut.
I’ve never been this wrecked after an event. But I came here exactly for that—to gain experience and to find the limits of my endurance. I swam much faster than I had planned, and I cycled much faster than expected. I paid the price on the run today.

Another top Polish track and field athlete – Paweł Januszewicz – chose to compete at a shorter distance: the 5150 Triathlon Series. He had to complete 1.5 kilometers of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling, and 10 kilometers of running. He finished in 20th place in his age group.
Paradoxically, cycling went best for me. Triathlon doesn’t forgive — I have to admit, it really beat me up. But IRONMAN is like a virus. Once you catch it, you just have to keep doing it.
Paweł Januszewicz – track and field athlete, IRONMAN Poland ambassador

The winner of the 5150 Triathlon Warsaw was Krzysztof KUCZYŃSKI from Warsaw, who completed the entire course in 2:03:56. Marcin PASZKIEWICZ finished second with a time of 2:05:23. Michał MAŁEK came in third, crossing the finish line in 2:10:18.

The weekend actually began on Friday. At exactly 11:00 PM, the Warsaw Night Run kicked off. Runners had 5,000 meters to cover, with the course winding through the streets of the New and Old Town. The fastest over this distance was Warsaw native Jakub Szram, who completed the 5 kilometers in just 16 minutes and 50 seconds.

Great course, perfect conditions. I’m a night owl—running in the morning is a nightmare for me, so I definitely prefer running at night. This was my debut in the Night Run, but I already know I’ll be back next year.
Jakub Szram – winner of Night Run Warsaw

The fastest woman – Dalia Kampa from Gliwice, who competed in the Night Run – crossed the finish line less than two minutes after the winner, completing the race in 18 minutes and 47 seconds.
After a tough day, I’m really happy with this result. I barely made it here—I was stuck in traffic for an hour because of an accident. But the run itself was great, a really nice course. Although on the uphill section, the guys were pushing quite a bit.
