It’s official. During a press conference, the organizers of IRONMAN Poland announced a new race, which will take place in Kraków in August 2025. This event will replace the previous IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia in the calendar.
Thank you, Gdynia – welcome, Kraków! Today we can officially say it. Over the past 12 years, Gdynia has written a beautiful chapter in the history of Polish triathlon, and as the organizers of the IRONMAN Poland series, we take countless amazing memories from there. However, the time has come for change, and I am incredibly excited about the prospect of organizing IRONMAN 70.3 in such an extraordinary city as Kraków. It will be an amazing race, and we anticipate triathletes from all over the world.
Michał Drelich, CEO of Sport Evolution, the organizer of IRONMAN Poland events
Kraków is renowned for its art, architecture, cultural events, and also for hosting exceptional sports events. Joining the calendar of European and global-scale events is IRONMAN 70.3 Kraków, part of the largest international series of triathlon events. In Kraków, we will welcome participants from around the world, bringing international promotion to our city. We will showcase the many faces of Kraków and hope to build a community around this event, similar to the one created for the Royal Running Triad races.
Łukasz Sęk, Deputy Mayor of the City of Kraków
The event program will include a Pho3nix IRONKIDS Kraków competition, providing an opportunity for children to participate. The organizers will soon announce the detailed schedule for the entire weekend.
It is already confirmed that the participant limit for the main race will be 2,000 athletes. Some details about the race course locations are also known. Triathletes will swim in the epic scenery of Zakrzówek Reservoir, followed by a 90-kilometer bike course that will mostly take place outside Kraków, heading towards Bochnia. The turnaround point will be located there, where city officials are preparing a special fan zone and picnic area for residents.
Bochnia and Kraków share centuries of beautiful history, built on the foundation of salt, once referred to as white gold. I am delighted that in the summer of 2025, an additional bond between our cities will be the truly exceptional IRONMAN 70.3 Kraków competition. Together with residents and visitors, we will cheer on the triathletes in the stunning setting of Bochnia’s Market Square.
Magdalena Łacna, Mayor of Bochnia
The running stage of the competition is planned to take place in the heart of Kraków. Triathletes can expect a flat course, with the highlight undoubtedly being the spectacular finish line at the Old Town Market Square.
We’ve had an unforgettable 10 years in Gdynia, but today we are truly excited about the prospect of a new race on our European calendar. IRONMAN 70.3 Kraków promises exceptional memories not only from the race itself but also from visiting this culturally and historically rich city.
Thomas Veje Olsen, Managing Director EMEA, The IRONMAN Group
